There is one song that I can't forget.
When I was thirteen, I don't understand the lyric.
When I was fourteen, I don't understand why we need to sing it every Monday.
When I was fifteen, I slowly found that the rhythm makes me feels good and proud.
When I was sixteen, I sang it loud and clear once I hear the music play.
When I was seventeen, I know that will not be my last time singing that song.
After years have pass, when I come back to a moment of high school nostalgia
I finally know the meaning of the song.
It's not about the words and phrases in the song, but it's the past events that come together with the song.
The song has it own definition for everyone, even though the lyric is the same.
The song did not repeat itself every Monday, but the song actually makes itself the theme song of the week.
The song did not meant to be easily sung, but it meant to makes you felt easy when you sing.
"When will it be the last time I’ll sing it?" The answer is “Never."
There is not a single flavour absence in the song.
There are too much memories lays behind the song.
And not to forget the rest of St John's spirits.
THE PLEDGE
We'll strive with all our heart and soul
With faith and zeal to reach our goal
Just like the eagle that seeks to spread
its wings on high
For St. John's we will do or die
Fide et Labore as our guide
We'll do our best we'll do what's right
We'll keep the flag flying high up
on the skies above
And we'll always be ready to serve
We'll tarnish not your name
or it's name of fame
Yes a name that not a blame
can be laid on
Johannians one and all
We'll hearken to your call
This pledge we dedicate in song
Again we pledge our faith in you
We'll be Johannians bold and true
Fide et Labore will be our guide
To spur us on, and we'll sing
song live St. John's!
ONWARD ST. JOHN
Let us march on to glory
Ley us surge on to fame
Let us raise our voices and our hearts
Onward! Onward! St. John's
The gold and the green
The white and the true
We are here for you St. John's
Fide et Labore, ever loyal we'll be
The bold, the best and the brave
Let us raise our voices and our hearts
Onward! Onward! St. John's
Onward! Onward! Onward! St. John's
All the way St. John's we go for you
All the way or nothing at all
We are loyal we are good and true
All the way we hearken to your call
St. John's you're beautiful
We will sing, Fide et Labore!
All the way St. John's we go for you
All the way or nothing at all
We are loyal we are good and true
All the way we hearken to your call
All the way...
We are green white and true
That we'll honour our name
Fide et Labore St. John's
The gold eagle's still soaring
Fide et Labore St. John's
All though the classes a voice is resounding
Promptly respond to your duty's sweet call
Hearken ye all for the trumpet in sounding
Your Mater's proclaiming her watch word to all
*Forward her children dear
Render with joy to her Mater her due
Sons of St. John's valiant and true
(repeat*)
For the last hundred years
Helping us achieve all our hopes and dreams
You helped through our troubles,
Through all the odds St. John's will reign supreme
*The Johannian Spirit lives on and on
In our hearts, and in our minds
The Johannian Spirit lives on and on
St. John's will ive on, till the end of time
In our youthful days, you were there to help us grow
Guiding us to reach the highest goals
Sharing and caring, teachings us everything we know
St. John's is our life and soul
(reapet * 2X)
and of course
Should all acquaintance be forgot
And never brought to minds
Should all acquaintance be forgot
And days of auld lang syne
For auld lang syne my dear
We'll take a cup of kindness yer
